There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. - Maya Angelou
Developing a love for writing at a very early age, Lasharee found herself earning multiple certificates and receiving many accolades for her writing during her participation in many of her school wide essay and writing competitions. Since that time Lasharee continues to use her writings to express herself in the form of poetry and short stories, which she would often use to encourage children and for personal/recreational purposes. Lasharee uses writing to provide a written interpretation of what the heart sometimes find hard to speak. The Word of God states, "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks..." Some people speak verbally from the heart, but for Lasharee, the impressions of her heart can be heard in her writing.
Aside for her interest in writing, Lasharee is also an educator beginning her career in 1999, working for the New York City Board of Education as an elementary and middle school teacher. After eight successful years in the classroom, she moved to Concord, NC and founded Upper Room Kids Academy. Always concerned about the education of others, Lasharee also worked as an adjunct instructor for Early Childhood Education Administration Development at Rowan Cabarrus Community College from 2008 to 2011.
As the founder and Outreach Director of Upper Room Ministries of NC (Non-profit organization in Concord NC), Lasharee has had the opportunity to become very skilled in governmental regulatory compliance, operational efficiency best practices, professional development training, and multi-channel communication strategies. Lasharee has also made a commitment to serving children and families internationally. She has been privileged to travel to Kenya, Israel, South Africa, and El Salvador. Lasharee plans to continue her efforts in supporting both her community locally as well as those in need internationally.
Lasharee holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Hunter College, New York, NY; Masters of Arts Degree in Education from Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, NY; Masters of Science Degree in Divinity/Christian Education from Hood Seminary, Salisbury, NC; and is currently working towards her Ph.D. in Philosophy - Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Walden University, Baltimore, MD.
Some people use singing to express themselves, others dance and many use the art of painting. As for me, writing has become a place of refuge. The ability to bring healing and hope to others through my writing is my Heart's desire - Lasharee Rogers
